Fade Far Away
Beneath the soft incense
That hangs upon the boughs
The thicket, the grass,
And the fruit tree wild
My heart aches and
A drowsy numbness pains
You lured me with your beauty
Then let it tumble down
Warm rain washes me
And I will fly to thee
On the viewless wings of Grace
Already with thee
Tender is the Night
Fade far away, dissolve
And quite forget
The weariness, the fever
And the fret
Here where men sit and
Hear each other groan
Where beauty cannot keep
Those lustrous eyes
Without these leaden grief’s
I would not know your comfort
Without these foolish failings
I never would know mercy
Who has not cursed thy ever lovely face
When heavy, full of sorrow
All alone and lost in worries for tomorrow
O for a draught
Of vintage that has been
Cool’d a long age in
The deep-delved earth
Tasting of dance and
The country evergreen
That I might drink
And leave the world unseen
