Sacrament
There were days when you led me
Where the great birds rise
Over silver studded shores to drink
Of beauty I don’t deserve
I will follow where you lead
Though you take me from here
I will follow when you call
Though I don’t know where
These are days when the hidden
Backstreet shadows rise
Bitter fear and anger tar
The wings of ecstasy
Pollute the years and leave me
Sleeping with the enemy
I will follow where you lead
Though you take me from here
I will follow when you call
Though I don’t know where
And I will partake of thee
Though you consume me
Your banquet etched on my memory
Pretense is laid bare
And love covers me
The rhythm of grace
becomes flesh and blood
This sacrament, it redeems me
There will be days when trust finds
Herself in purity
Drenched with beauty like that
Of which all nature sings
And I will find the courage
To dance on Calvary
